An unmissable autumn excursion in the most scenic and legendary places of the Roero, to admire the majestic secular chestnut trees and the suggestive sandy walls of the Rocche.
A true fairytale landscape!
The excursion develops in the heart of the Roero where the fracture of the rocche makes the landscape suggestive and fairytale-like; secluded and wild hills frequented during the 1800s by bloody local bandits, among whom the name of Francesco Delpero, known as “Rejnè”, stands out.
The village of Monte Acuto is dominated by a castle that holds stories and mysteries handed down for centuries: local history tells that the emperor stayed for a certain period inside the austere manor.
After walking through a suggestive stretch of woods, we will reach the clearing of the Castagna Granda, a monumental chestnut specimen over 400 years old whose circumference exceeds 10 meters. We will continue our journey discovering majestic and secular chestnut trees.
We will walk along panoramic paths on the edge of the “Dante-esque” Rocche, visiting mysterious and fairytale places
Upon return, those who wish can participate in a visit to the Castle of Monteu Roero animated by characters in costume.
The visit will allow visitors to immerse themselves in the ancient and suggestive atmosphere of the castle, setting it in the years rich with internal quarrels in the Roero family, the last of which, in 1663, led to the complete renovation of the noble chapel by Michele Roero of Monteu, meeting the hostility of Count Galeazzo Roero.
At the end of the visit, it will be possible to taste the wines of the producers of Monteu Roero.
