Bergolo-Prunetto, summer scents and colors on the routes to the sea

An unmissable excursion on the panoramic hills of Alta Langa along the trails that led to the sea

An unmissable excursion on the panoramic hills of Alta Langa along the trails that led to the sea.

…you climb the highest hill, on the ridge between the Bormida and Uzzone Valleys, and you just don’t understand whether it’s more the wild environment, more the exquisitely human care of a hamlet, or one and the other thing, that convinces you, that enraptures you, now fused, in harmony.

The route

The adventure begins in Bergolo, the stone village, to immediately immerse yourself in the green heart of Valle Uzzone.

Here, the path winds along ancient mule tracks that smell of earth, moss and wild flowers, crossing chestnut woods and small villages set in the rock, such as the evocative Frazione della Barca, where time seems to have stood still.

Step by step, among breathtaking views spanning Valle Bormida, you climb towards the ridge until you reach the extraordinary site of Prunetto.

You will be greeted by the proud profile of its splendid Castle, a true medieval enchantment that dominates the landscape, flanked by the mystical silence of the Church of Madonna del Carmine, guardian of precious and vibrant thirteenth-century frescoes.

After breathing in the history, the path returns in the afternoon to Bergolo, where the day closes in the sweetest way: a gathering on the panoramic terrace of “Le Parole Perdute” for a delicious aperitif dinner or a drink while admiring a unique summer sunset in Alta Langa, with the sky ablaze and the sun slowly bidding farewell to Valle Bormida.

The route develops mainly in shaded areas.
