Truffle hunt

The white truffle of Alba is famous all over the world, as is the yearly truffle fair. The truffle hunt is since 2021 even part of the Unesco World Heritage. La Gioiosa has a unique collaboration with third generation Piedmontese truffle hunters who still offer a real hunt (no hidden truffles) and can tell you all about this beautiful tradition.

We were very sceptic about the truffle hunt, convinced it must be a simulated activity. We decided to do it anyway for our children, thinking it would be nice for them to enjoy the wood and the dogs. I immediately realised that I was completely wrong. The dog was looking for the truffle for so long! The trifulau even gave me his equipment to let me dig it out. Never thought it was so difficult to let the truffle out of the earth. What an emotion to finally hold one in my hand and smell its perfume!
