By travelling to the Langhe you might not imagine being exactly one step from the seaside<\/strong>. Actually, the Langhe are situated halfway between the mountains and the sea, and that\u2019s why a dish like \u2018vitello tonnato<\/strong>\u2019, thinly sliced veal with tuna sauce, can be found on Piedmontese restaurant menus. This dish could be prepared with the preserved tuna<\/strong> that sailors brought inland, in exchange for local meat and vegetables<\/strong> they wanted to bring home with them. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

They once used the salt routes<\/strong> to carry their products from Liguria<\/strong> to Piedmont<\/strong> and exchange them for other food. In fact, the Langhe used to be just a couple of days’ walk<\/strong> from the sea, which explains why these connections happened in the past. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

By staying in the Langhe you would probably not imagine to be exactly one step from the seaside<\/strong>!<\/p>\n\n\n

A visit to the Langhe somehow seems more complete then with a visit<\/strong> to one of the picturesque seaside villages<\/strong> of Liguria, a province known for its plants, flowers<\/strong>, sea<\/strong> and olive oil<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Although the coast is in many places built up and touristic, it does still have unimaginable gems<\/strong>. The visit is really worth it, and by car they are just one hour and a half far away from us! Discover this fantastic region by starting from our tips. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

As you will slowly realise, it is not only seaside, but also good food<\/strong>, nice flowers<\/strong>, organic agriculture<\/strong> and wooded hills<\/strong>!<\/p>\n\n\n\n\n

Noli<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

One of the most charming seaside villages of Liguria.<\/p>\n\n\n <\/div> <\/div>\n<\/section>\n\n\n\n


Its mediaeval<\/strong> centre is tiny<\/strong> but boasts charm and authenticity. Its seaside has a promenade<\/strong> and a still functioning fish market<\/strong>. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Visit it in the early morning and see the fishermen<\/strong> pull their boats onto the sandy beach and bring in their fresh fish to the market. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

In the town you find small shops<\/strong> with all one could wish for, delicious ice creams<\/strong>, bakeries<\/strong> where to buy the typical focaccia<\/strong>, clothes shops… a nice mix of everything. There are a few famous fish restaurants<\/strong>, in the centre as well as on the promenade<\/strong> with breathtaking views on the azure waters. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

And of course, make sure you taste the original and delicious pasta al pesto<\/strong>, with potatoes<\/strong> and green beans<\/strong>!<\/p>\n\n\n\n\n

Finale Ligure<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Finale Ligure never disappoints either. The ancient town is picturesque and the sandy beach is perfect to relax.<\/p>\n\n\n <\/div> <\/div>\n<\/section>\n\n\n\n

Visit Finale Borgo<\/strong>, the ancient Finale inland up the hill. The town has recently undergone several renovations<\/strong> restoring it to its former glory<\/strong>. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Finale Ligure, on the coast<\/strong>, is modern<\/strong> and always buzzing with life<\/strong>. It has a nice little harbour<\/strong> and sandy beaches<\/strong> to visit. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

From Finale one can take the SP1, via Aurelia, back to Noli<\/strong> and marvel at the dramatic rocky coast<\/strong> line. Stop off for a visit to some of the relaxing seaside<\/strong> resorts of Varigotti<\/strong>. We suggest going to the tiny beach of Malpasso<\/strong>, flanked in its back by a huge rock face<\/strong> that lights up orange in the evening sunlight. A spectacular sight!<\/p>\n\n\n\n\n

Le Manie park<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

The ideal place for a walk or a bike tour, under lush pine forests.<\/p>\n\n\n <\/div> <\/div>\n<\/section>\n\n\n\n

An attraction in itself is the road SP45 that leads from Noli to Finale Ligure<\/strong>, passing through the natural park of Le Manie<\/strong>. It starts just below Noli\u2019s castle<\/strong> (as SP54) and leads to lush hills<\/strong> with pines<\/strong> and dramatically coloured red soil<\/strong>. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

A wonderful place to rest after doing what this area invites you to: hiking<\/strong>, road biking<\/strong> or mountain biking<\/strong>. The area has a dense network of trails<\/strong> that are well signposted. The road will lead you from one breathtaking spot to the other as you track the hills\u2019 ridges<\/strong> with sea views<\/strong> on the one side, and the mountain range of the Apennines<\/strong>. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

For lovers of honest local food there are several restaurants<\/strong> along this road. One is called La Grotta<\/strong> and it is just off the road situated on top of a prehistoric cave<\/strong>!<\/p>\n\n\n\n\n

Albenga<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Surprising and charming mediaeval town<\/p>\n\n\n <\/div> <\/div>\n<\/section>\n\n\n\n

In the mediaeval town<\/strong> of Albenga you\u2019ll be overthrown by beautiful genovese architecture<\/strong> and cosy small city buzz amongst arches<\/strong> and alleys. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

There is a wonderful olive oil museum<\/strong> where the ancient production processes<\/strong> are shown and where the best local oils can be tasted and purchased. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Albenga is also well known for its flowers<\/strong> and vegetable cultivations<\/strong>, so don\u2019t miss the chance to buy some before going back home!<\/p>\n\n\n\n
